Chinese Compact HPL: why the factory name matters more than the country

Compact HPL is a solid board of kraft paper and resin, pressed under high heat and pressure. Made right, it does not swell, peel or rot. The basics are on our what is compact HPL page.

Made wrong, it looks the same on day one and fails later. The difference is inside the factory: the resin, the pressing, the checks. You cannot see that in a showroom. You can only see it in the papers and the brand behind the board.

What the EN 438 tests actually check

The TÜV SÜD report on UNISCE covers the things that decide how a panel behaves on site:

• Thickness and flatness. The board is the size it says and lies flat.
• Boiling water and water vapour. How much it swells when soaked or steamed.
• Bending strength and density. How stiff and solid the core is.
• Climatic shock. How it handles heat and humidity cycles.
• Reaction to fire. Classed B-s1, d0 for the 12 mm panel.

Big projects need two things from a panel: it has to last, and the consultant has to approve it. A named brand with test reports clears both.

Both work. We sell both, so we have no reason to push one. Choose on these points:

• Papers your consultant needs. Ask each brand for its test reports and compare.
• Colours and finishes. Each brand has its own range. Pick from samples in your hand.
• Price for your quantity. Get both quotes on the same layout.
• Hardware. Whatever the panel, put it on stainless hardware.

Check genuine UNISCE Chinese compact HPL with a UV light

1. Look at the film. Genuine UNISCE sheets arrive with UNISCE printed protective film.
2. Shine a UV light on the sheet. The UNISCE anti-counterfeit hologram mark shows up under UV light.
3. Ask for the papers. The product submittal and the TÜV SÜD reports.
4. Ask who the agent is. In Egypt it is Cairo House. Call us and we will confirm.

Compact HPL Care: 10 to 15 years with soap and water

Indoors, compact HPL usually lasts 10 to 15 years, often more. No paint, no polish, no sealing. Wipe with soap and water, and check hinges and locks once a year.

What contractors ask about Chinese compact HPL

Is Chinese compact HPL good quality? It depends on the factory, not the country. A named brand with EN 438 test reports and a mark you can check is a different product from an unbranded board.

Which Chinese compact HPL brand do you supply? UNISCE, as its sole agent in Egypt. We also carry Polybett, another Chinese brand.

Is UNISCE tested to European standards? Yes. TÜV SÜD tested UNISCE compact HPL against EN 438 in March 2025, and classed the 12 mm panel B-s1, d0 for fire to EN 13501-1.

What thickness does UNISCE come in? We supply it in 12 and 13 mm. 12 mm is the usual thickness for toilet partitions and doors in Egypt.

Can I buy UNISCE panels without installation? Yes. Contractors buy panels from us and install with their own teams. We also supply the JINGMI stainless hardware.

Do you supply Indian compact HPL too? Yes. We carry Greenlam from India, and you can compare it with UNISCE side by side.

Can I get a technical file for consultant approval? Yes. We provide the sample set, the UNISCE product submittal and the TÜV SÜD test reports.
