Compact HPL Partitions in the First Settlement, Cairo
The First Settlement is where New Cairo stopped being a building site and started being a neighbourhood. Banafseg, Yasmeen, Andalous and Qarnfel are full of villas and ground floor units that now trade as nurseries, private schools, clinics and small offices. Every one of those conversions inherited a bathroom built for one family and asked it to serve fifty people a day. Cairo House EG supplies and installs compact HPL partitions across the First Settlement, from a two cubicle clinic washroom to a full nursery fit out.

Why converted First Settlement units need compact HPL rather than laminated board
Compact HPL is high pressure laminate supplied as a solid board rather than a thin skin. Layers of kraft paper are saturated in phenolic resin and pressed under heat until they fuse into one dense sheet, normally 12mm or 13mm for cubicle work. The board is the structure. There is no chipboard inside, no MDF core, nothing that can drink water and swell at the bottom edge.
That matters more in a converted unit than in a purpose built washroom. A residential bathroom in Banafseg or Yasmeen was tiled for two showers a day. Once it becomes a nursery or a clinic washroom it gets mopped with disinfectant three times a day, and the wet floor never fully dries. Melamine faced board fails at the bottom edge inside two seasons under that regime. Compact HPL does not, because the edge is the same material as the face.
The second reason is space. Converted bathrooms are small and rarely square. Compact panels are cut to the millimetre from a measured survey, which is how you get two usable cubicles with proper door swings out of a room that a catalogue system would only fit one into.
We supply UNISCE panels in 12mm and 13mm with stainless steel 304 hardware throughout. The stainless is not cosmetic. Hinges and locks are the moving parts and the first thing to fail, and plated steel rusts at the fixing points within a year in a humid washroom.

Where compact HPL earns its cost on First Settlement projects
Nurseries and pre schools
Banafseg and Yasmeen have a dense cluster of nurseries in converted villas. Low height cubicles in compact HPL survive constant wet cleaning and rough handling in a way painted MDF never does.
Private schools
School washrooms in the First Settlement take a heavy burst of use between periods, then sit idle. That cycle punishes hinges more than panels, which is why we fit stainless 304 throughout.
Clinics and dental practices
A non porous surface with no open seams is far easier to sign off on an infection control review than tiled blockwork with grout lines.
Cafes and small restaurants
Tight washroom footprints in Andalous and Qarnfel need cubicles cut to the millimetre and colour matched to the fit out.
Offices in converted villas
Repeat washrooms on two or three floors of the same villa are the easiest kind of job to run, because one approved detail repeats.
Compound service buildings
Gym, club house and staff washrooms inside First Settlement compounds need a solution that does not put the facilities team on a seasonal maintenance cycle.

What we supply and install in the First Settlement
Cairo House EG has been supplying construction finishing materials in Cairo since 2015, and we are the exclusive agent in Egypt for UNISCE compact HPL panels. Everything below is supplied and fitted by our own teams, not subcontracted out.
Toilet cubicles and urinal screens
Full cubicle runs in 12mm or 13mm compact HPL, with matching urinal divider screens and anodised aluminium head rails. See compact HPL toilet partitions.
Adjustable pilaster feet
Pilaster shoes that cover the fixing and keep water away from the base of the panel. See adjustable pilaster feet.
Hooks and door bumpers
Coat hooks fixed through the panel properly rather than surface stuck, so they survive being leaned on. See door bumper fittings.
Raised access flooring
Access floor panels and pedestals installed to the finished floor level agreed at survey. See raised flooring installation.
Corian and solid surface
Seamless acrylic solid surface for reception counters, clinical surfaces and food service areas. See the Corian product range.
Solid surface vanities
Solid surface vanity units built as one continuous piece, which is the detail that makes a washroom easy to clean. See seamless vanity units.

Serving the First Settlement and the surrounding areas
Our premises are in El Nozha El Gedida, Heliopolis, which puts the First Settlement roughly 25 minutes away on the Ring Road. That is close enough for a same day site survey and for our fitters to work a normal shift on your site rather than losing half of it in traffic.
Converted units are the defining constraint here. Bathrooms in Banafseg, Yasmeen, Andalous and Qarnfel are rarely square and the floor levels almost never match the drawing. We survey after the screed and render are done, not before, and we use adjustable stainless feet so the head rail still runs level across a floor that does not.
Nurseries and schools cannot close a washroom for a week. We schedule installation around holidays or outside teaching hours and deliver everything in one drop, so there is no second visit. From the same base we also cover the Third and Fifth Settlements, Rehab City, Madinaty and Katameya on the same run. You can also see about Cairo House EG.

What to expect when you work with us
Most washroom jobs go wrong at measurement, not at installation. Our process is built around removing that risk before a single panel is cut.
- Site survey. We measure the actual room, not the drawing. Wall plumb, floor level, drainage falls and service positions all get recorded, because converted First Settlement bathrooms are almost never square.
- Layout and panel selection. You get a cubicle layout with door swings and clear widths marked, plus physical panel samples so the colour is approved against your actual lighting and not against a screen.
- Quotation. Itemised by panel, hardware and installation, so you can see exactly what is being priced and adjust the specification if the budget needs it.
- Fabrication. Panels are cut, edge finished and drilled to the approved layout. Sheets stay under factory film until they reach site.
- Installation. Our own fitters set out, install head rails, pilasters and doors, then adjust every hinge and lock before handover, and the room is left clean.
- Handover and after sales. We walk the washroom with you, hand over spare hardware, and stay reachable for adjustments once the space is in real use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work in converted villas and ground floor units? Constantly. It is the most common job in the First Settlement. The room is usually smaller and less square than the drawing suggests, which is exactly why we survey on site and cut to measured dimensions rather than fitting a catalogue size.
What panel thickness should a nursery or school washroom use? 13mm. Children push doors hard and cleaning is frequent and wet. For a small office or clinic washroom with lower footfall, 12mm is sufficient and costs less, and we will tell you honestly which one your traffic justifies.
How long does a First Settlement washroom take? Fabrication runs five to seven working days after the layout and colour are approved. A washroom with three or four cubicles is normally fitted in one working day once the panels arrive.
Can you install during school or nursery holidays only? Yes, and we prefer it. Tell us the window at survey stage and we will fabricate to be ready before it opens, then complete the whole run inside it rather than leaving the washroom part finished.
What happens if the bathroom floor is not level? That is normal in converted units. Adjustable stainless feet take out the difference in screed level, which is why we record floor levels during the survey and before anything is cut.
Do you supply the stainless steel hardware or do we source it separately? We supply it. Hinges, indicator locks, brackets, pilaster shoes and coat hooks are all stainless steel 304, which matters in a humid washroom because plated steel rusts at the fixing points within a year or two.
Can you match the panel colour to an existing fit out? Usually yes. The UNISCE range covers solid colours, wood grains and stone textures, and we leave physical samples on site so the choice is made under your own lighting. If a specified colour is not in the range we will say so before you commit.
What does a compact HPL partition cost in the First Settlement? Pricing depends on panel thickness, colour, cubicle count and the hardware specification, so a real number needs your layout. Send drawings or rough dimensions and we will return an itemised quotation rather than a headline rate that changes later.
