Compact HPL Partitions in Manial, Cairo

Manial sits on Roda Island with the Nile on both sides and the Kasr El Aini hospital complex at its northern end. The Manial Palace Museum draws visitors, student housing serving Cairo University fills the side streets, and the restaurants and clinics along Manial Street run from morning until late. Cairo House EG supplies and installs compact HPL partitions across the island.

What compact HPL partitions are, and why Manial buildings need them

Compact HPL is high pressure laminate produced as a solid board rather than a face bonded to a soft core. Kraft paper is saturated in phenolic resin and pressed under heat into one dense homogeneous slab, normally 12mm or 13mm for cubicle work. It is self supporting, waterproof throughout and repairable at the fitting rather than the panel.

Being an island district, Manial carries more ambient humidity than most of central Cairo, and the buildings are largely older blocks with internal washrooms and limited ventilation. That is the classic failure condition for anything with a timber or particle core: moisture reaches the bottom edge, the core swells, and the door face lifts within a few years.

The medical and student population adds volume. Washrooms serving the Kasr El Aini complex and the student housing around it run continuously, and cleaning is frequent and chemical. A homogeneous non porous panel takes that regime without dulling, while the stainless steel 304 hardware avoids the rust streaks that mark out an older Cairo washroom within its first year.

Where compact HPL earns its cost in Manial

Hospitals and clinics

The Kasr El Aini complex at the northern end anchors a dense medical cluster where seamless non porous surfaces beat tile and grout on every hygiene measure.

Student housing

Housing serving Cairo University runs shared washrooms in continuous use with limited maintenance windows and heavy wear on doors.

Restaurants and cafes

Venues along Manial Street and the Corniche turn over heavily in the evening in compact washrooms with no width to spare.

Visitor attractions

Manial Palace Museum handles visitor groups arriving together rather than steady traffic, which loads doors and latches in short bursts.

Retail and services

Ground floor commercial along Manial Street runs washrooms shared between staff and customers through long trading hours.

Offices

Converted apartment floors used as offices repeat small washrooms that standardise easily onto one approved detail.

Cairo House EG has supplied construction finishing materials in Cairo since 2015 and holds the exclusive Egypt agency for UNISCE compact HPL panels. Everything below is fabricated and fitted by our own teams rather than subcontracted out.

Compact HPL toilet partitions

Complete partition runs cut to your layout, including urinal screens, head rails and adjustable stainless feet. See compact partition boards.

Changing room lockers in matching colours, sized to the bay rather than bought in fixed modules. See panel built lockers.

Cubicle hardware

Every fitting a cubicle run needs, in one specification, with spares handed over at completion. See stainless cubicle fittings.

Support brackets

Stainless brackets that carry the panel load into the wall properly, which is where cheap installations usually fail. See partition support brackets.

Raised floor systems

Access flooring that carries services under the deck and stays serviceable once the space is occupied. See raised floor systems.

Corian washroom work

Bathroom surfaces specified where hygiene audits apply and tiled detailing will not pass. See Corian washroom surfaces.

Serving Manial and the central river districts

We work from El Nozha El Gedida in Heliopolis and come into Manial regularly. Bridge access onto Roda Island rather than distance sets the practical timing, so we plan surveys and deliveries around it and quote windows we can hold.

From the same base we cover Downtown, Garden City, Abbassia, Giza and Zamalek, all close enough that a crew working one can reach another in the same week.

Older Manial blocks have narrow stairwells, small lifts and constrained street access. We record the route at survey and size panels to suit, because a sheet that will not reach the washroom is a wasted day for both of us. You can also see the full materials catalogue.

What to expect when you work with us

Most washroom packages fail at measurement, not installation. Our process removes that risk before a single panel is cut.

  1. Site survey. We measure the built washroom in Manial rather than working from the drawing, because wall plumb, floor level and drainage falls on site rarely match what was issued.
  2. Layout and panel selection. You receive a cubicle layout with door swings and clear widths marked, plus physical panel samples so the colour is approved under your own lighting instead of on a screen.
  3. Quotation. Itemised by panel, hardware and installation, so you can see what is being priced and adjust the specification if the budget needs it.
  4. Fabrication. Panels are cut, edge finished and drilled to the approved layout. Sheets stay under factory film until they reach site.
  5. Installation. Our fitters set out, install head rails, pilasters and doors, then adjust every hinge and latch before handover. In medical buildings we work within the clinical hours agreed at survey.
  6. Handover and after sales. We walk the finished washroom with you, hand over spare hardware, and stay reachable for adjustments once the space is in real use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is compact HPL suitable next to a hospital or clinic area? Yes. It is non porous with no seams or grout lines, and it takes hospital grade disinfectant without dulling, staining or needing resealing on a maintenance cycle.

Our student washrooms take constant abuse. Will this last? Far longer than a laminated system. Colour and material run through the full thickness, so impacts mark the panel rather than splitting a face off a core, and worn hinges and latches swap out individually.

The building is humid and the old partitions swelled. Why is this different? What swelled was the core absorbing water at the bottom edge. Compact HPL has no core. The panel is one waterproof material throughout, so humidity has nothing to attack.

Can panels get up a narrow stairwell in an older Manial block? Usually yes, because we cut to size in the workshop rather than carrying full sheets in. We measure the stairwell and lift at survey and plan panel dimensions around the route.

Can you work around clinical hours? Yes. We agree the working window and access route at survey, then phase installation so the department retains washroom capacity throughout.

What thickness should we specify? 13mm for hospital, student housing and public washrooms taking continuous use. 12mm is sufficient for small offices and staff washrooms and costs less.

Will the hardware rust and stain the panels? Not in stainless steel 304, which is what we supply as standard. Plated steel is what produces the rust streaks under hinges that mark out older washrooms, usually inside the first year.

What does a compact HPL partition cost in Manial? It depends on thickness, colour, cubicle count and hardware, and access can affect installation time. Send dimensions or a sketch and we return an itemised quotation.

Send the washroom dimensions or a rough sketch and we will return an itemised quotation. For older island buildings we would rather survey it ourselves and check the access route at the same time.
