Compact HPL is high pressure laminate manufactured as a solid slab rather than a laminate face over a soft substrate. Kraft paper is saturated in phenolic resin and pressed under heat into one dense homogeneous board, normally 12mm or 13mm for cubicle work. There is no core to swell and no frame to corrode behind it.
Because Badr is mostly new build, the decision here is a genuine first choice rather than a repair. That is worth taking seriously, because the cost difference between a system that lasts four years and one that lasts fifteen is small at the point of purchase and enormous over the life of the building. New build brings its own practical issue. Shells here are poured fast and the walls are rarely square or plumb by the time the finishes arrive. When should we survey on a new build site? Once the screed is down and the walls are rendered. Measuring earlier gives you panels cut to a shell that no longer exists by the time they arrive, which is the single most common cause of uneven door gaps.
Is compact HPL worth the extra at first fit compared with laminated board? Over the life of the building, comfortably. The difference at purchase is modest. The difference in outcome is a washroom that still works in year twelve against one that needs full replacement in year four.
Our walls are out of square. Can you still get even door gaps? Yes, provided we fabricate to the surveyed opening rather than the drawing. Out of square shells are normal on fast poured new build and we plan the set out around them.
Can you install while other trades are still on site? We prefer to install near the end of the programme. Partitions are a finish item, and going in early means they take damage from every trade that follows. We agree the sequence with the main contractor.
What thickness should a new university or industrial washroom use? 13mm. Both duties are at the hard end of the range, and the thicker board absorbs impact at the door edge far better across the building life.
Do you supply lockers and changing benches as well? Yes, from the same panel with matching stainless steel 304 fittings, so the changing area and the washroom carry one specification.
How long does fabrication take? Eight to twelve working days after layout and colour approval for programme quantities. Single washrooms turn faster. Colour availability is normally the variable.
